With a North Sea coastline to the east, (abbreviated Lincs.) Lincolnshire is an eastern England county. Allocated to the North East Lincolnshire and North Lincolnshire authorities was the land south of the Humber Estuary. In Lincolnshire is the line of Sheffield-Gainsborough Central-Cleethorpes, in the UK, one of the services that is most infrequent that has trains on a Saturday for passengers, with trains in both directions. In Lincolnshire, Cadwell Park is the motor-racing course. (In north Lincolnshire but similar to the Fens) The Carrs, The Lincolnshire Fens (Lincolnshire's southeast), the North Sea coast and Humber Estuary around Scunthorpe and Grimsby are in the southeast, and the Uplands of Kesteven, comprising, in South Kesteven, limestone hills that are rolling, is in the county's southwest.

Along with the south east's Holland Parts, this emerged as one of the Lincolnshire Parts, and the Parts of Kesteven, in the south west, which as their county administrations each had separate Quarter Sessions. Birthplace and home of Isaac Newton, Woolsthorpe Manor is located in Lincolnshire. One of the few UK counties that, to decide who may attend a school of grammar, uses the 11-plus is Lincolnshire. Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust serve the north of the county. As people holiday at large caravan sites during summer, along the Lincolnshire coast, the Chapel St Leonards, Ingoldmells, and Skegness areas (and to an extent that is lesser the Mablethorpe and Sutton-on-Sea areas) are becoming increasingly urbanised.

Founded in 1869, Lincolnshire AS stages the Lincolnshire AS every year. Lincolnshire is a county in cricket and play in the Minor Counties Championship. RAF Coningsby, which is one of two Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) Stations in the United Kingdom, and RAF Waddington, where most of the Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance aircraft are based, are major front-line bases located in Lincolnshire.
